Quebec Open 2026 — Even wins are opportunities for growth

After winning the Novice division last year, I returned to the Quebec Open in 2026 with a new goal: to compete for the Open title. I knew the jump in competition would be significant, but I was excited for the challenge and the experience that awaited me in the ring.

From my very first bout, I was matched against an opponent with considerably more experience. As the fight unfolded, there were moments where that experience showed, forcing me to adapt to strategies and situations I had not yet encountered. It became an invaluable learning opportunity and exactly the kind of test we went to Quebec seeking. One thing is certain: Quebec consistently produces skilled, competitive athletes who are always ready for the challenge.

The tournament taught me more than just physical skills. It reinforced the importance of composure and mental discipline. I learned firsthand that some tactics are designed not only to score points, but also to disrupt your focus and pull you away from your own game plan. Staying calm, confident, and committed to my strategy became just as important as any technical adjustment.

While I was fortunate to come away with the results I wanted, every fight offered lessons that will help shape my development moving forward. Beyond my own bouts, spending time watching and analyzing other matches provided valuable insight into how momentum shifts, scoring exchanges, and corner adjustments can determine the outcome of a fight.

Each tournament continues to deepen my understanding of the sport, and the Quebec Open was no exception. The more I learn, the more I realize just how much there is still to discover. I’m excited for what’s ahead, knowing that I’ve only begun to scratch the surface!
